Rufus- History

On his way to his mother's house in Violet City from Azaela town with a basket of pokeballs made from Apricorns. Noticing a group of explorers searching the Alpha ruin's he decided to check them out for himself. There he saw Angelo painting on one of the walls. Thinking it was just a kid defiling the ruins, he threw a Pokeball at it. To his surprise it was caught. Always wanting a pet dog, he took it home to his mom and asked if he could keep him and go off on a journey. Not wanting him to leave she said only if his Pokemon could beat her.
The two engaged in a battle, Angelo against Rufus's mother's Mr. Mime. She stared out by using Shock Wave which Angelo dodged and Sketched. Before Mr. Mime could retaliate, Angelo used Shock Wave and paralyzed the mime Pokemon.
Giving into her son's wishes, she allowed Rufus to go on his own Pokemon adventure. His first stop was at his hometown's gym. Growing up with Faulkner, he was able to predict the other's strategy. His friend's Pidgey and Pidgeotto was easily struck down by Angelo's Shock Wave. Proud of his friend, Faulkner gladly gave Rufus the Zeypher badge and decided to return the gym to his father and accompany Rufus to make himself stronger. Together the two set off for Goldenrod City so that Rufus could challenge Whitney.
As they approached the National Park, Faulkner reminded Rufus that Angelo's shock wave might not be enough. The two decided to look up information on all the Pokemon that appear in the park. Noticing that the a Pinser was listed, Rufus decided to hunt one down and have Angelo use Sketch on it's Focus Blast move. The two spent two hours searching for a Pinser, Faulkner doing battle with any other Pokemon that came by as a way to train up his Pideotto. Finally the pair came across the Pinser, Angelo was able to Sketch the Focus blast while Faulkner used his Pidgeotto to attack it. Defeating the Pinser, Pidgetto evolved into a Pidgeot.
The two decided to take a nap together under a tree before leaving Goldenrod. Oversleeping, the two awoke to the darkness of the park. As they ventured towards the southern exit, Faulkner spotted a Hoothoot and promptly caught it.
Arriving in Goldenrod a little before midnight, the two got a hotel room and crashed. Waking up earlier than Faulkner, Rufus made his way to the Gym, letting the other get some extra sleep. Engaging Whitney in battle, Angelo struggled when dealign with Clefairy's Metronome but eventually was able to knock it out with it's Focus Blast. Angelo struggled even more against Whitney's Miltank. It's rollout set Angelo back and almost defeated him but Angelo was able to Paralyze it with Shock Wave before knocking it out with Focus Blast, earning him his Plain Badge.
Returning to the room, he met up with the aggravated Faulkner. Not wanting Faulkner to leave him alone on his journey he said he'd do whatever the other wanted. Taking Rufus's offer he asked to take the bullet train to Goldenrod, something that he'd wanted to do since a young boy. Together the two bought their tickets and made their way to Saffron City. While on the train, Faulkner met a young boy with a Swellow, a Pokemon he'd yet to see. Eagerly he offered the other a trade, the younger boy being naive to the abundance of Pidgey in Kanto accepted the trade.
The two arrived in Saffron only to find that both the resident gyms were closed. The two headed west to Celadon City. Traveling along Route seven the two stumbled across a Houndour and Growlthie fighting over a berri. Taking advantage of them being distracted, Rufus through a Pokeball towards the Grolthie but instead it the Houndour. Wanting the Growlthie, he used newly caught Hour against it. Using it's Smog attack , he temporaly was able to disorient the Puppy pokemon and catch it using a pokeball. Excited about his new Pokemon, he decided to immediately go against Erika. In a hurry, the two decided to take a short cut, ignoring the no trespassing signs. Halfway to the path a girl with silver hair cut them off, angry that they trespassed on the Grimer sanctuary. Not wanting to pay the fine, Rufus tried to talk his way out of it, challenging the girl to a battle. Not thinking he sent out Keith against the Wartortle who easily made it faint. Not wanting to see his friend lose, Falkner reminded Rufus that Hour would also be weak to the Wartortle. Taking his friend's advice he sent out Angelo and used sketch to learn the Wartortle's Water Pulse before using Shockwave to knock it out.
Before they could give the girl time to protest, the two ran off to the Pokecenter to heal up Keith, laughing that they were lucky to escape from getting in trouble. Deciiding to take a rest before battling the two ate lunch together atop the Celadon mall. Wanting to have some fun, Falkner tried playing a crane machine to win a Pidgey phone tassel only to wind up getting one of Growlthie. Knowing Rufus's fondness of dog pokemon he gave the trinket to his friend. Excitedly accepting the gift, Rufus hugged Falkner and attached it to his Pokegear.
Deciding it was about time they got on the road, the two left the mall and headed for the town's gym. With Hour and Keith, Rufus was at a high advantage agaisnt Erika's grass types and easily defeated her. After receiving his rainbow badge the two set off for Vermillion City to check out the large ships.
Amazed to find a Gym in the port town, Rufus begged Falkner to put off seeing the big ships so that he could get another badge. Giving in to his friend, Falkner stayed outside and trained up his Swellow while Rufus went inside to battle Lt. Surge. Overall he struggled, having two of his Pokemon faint. Fortunately Hour was able to pull through for him, knocking out Raichu with his Flamethrower. Going outside he found that Falkner was missing. Moving further down the port he noticed his friend coming up to the shore, holding something in his hands. Falkner had found a baby Wingull that had been caught in some oil from a ship. After making a trip to the Pokecenter Falkner ran off angered towards the ship. Rufus hurriedly followed after his friend and boarded the ship. He was shocked to find some of the sailors were tending to their defeated Pokemon and mumbling how some crazed person had overdone it. Following the path of destruction, Rufus made his way to the captain's quarters where Falkner had the man cornered. Rufus tired to pull the other away trying everything to get him off the man. Once Falkner heard Rufus say that he'd be sad if they got separated, the bird trainer calmed down and let the Captain out of his grasp. Giving the man a chance to speak, the Captain apologized for dumping the oil and promised never to do it again. Before the duo could leave the captain's quarters, the ship set sail for the Hoenn region. Deciding it would be an exciting adventure, the two were allowed to stay on board and headed for Mossdeep City.
Arriving in Mossdeep, the pair decided to take a tour of the Space center and check out the space ship and all the other cool gadgets. Finishing their tour the two decided to get a room at the Pokecenter for the night. That night Falkner thanked Rufus for stopping him on the ship and the two promised to look out for the other no matter what. After saying that Rufus gave Falkner a Pidgey charm, the same one he tried to win in Celdeon, as a gift and reassurance for their promise.
The following day the Rufus went to challenge the Pokemon Leaders to duel. To his surprise there were two gym leaders and they made it mandatory that he have a partner for his duel. Together, Falkner and Rufus battled the twins, Rufus using Angelo and Falkner using his Wingull. Together the two took down the twins with a synchronized Water Pulse between the two Pokemon. Receiving the Mind Badge the two set off on a boat towards Lilycove City.

Not stopping for long in Lilycove, the two headed for Route 120 and stumbled across an Absol. A little frightened, Falkner warned Rufus not to disturb it unless he wanted a disaster to befall them. Ignoring the other he sent out Hour to take on the Absol then successfully caught the Pokemon. Once arriving in Fortree, he challenged Winona to a gym battle thinking he'd have the same advantage as he did with Falkner only to lose out to her Wingull and Altaria.
Determined to win the Rufus and Falkner set up camp on Route 120 and began training together. For weeks the two battled togehter, trying to figure out a way to topple the Wiona's Alteria. On their sixth week the two stumbled upon a cave. Exploring it they disturbed a slumbering Pokemon who smashed it's fist into the ground, making them fall into an underground river.
Rufus awoke to Falkner's lips firmly pressed against his, trying to breath air back into his body. Coughing up water the two looked around at where they washed up. Swimming across a lake, the two discovered they had washed up in the city of Mauville. the gym leader, discovering the two provided them with a place to stay and dry their clothes. The two slept for weeks, sick and exhausted from the prior events. During that time, Rufus clung tightly to Falkner for security, scared that they would some how be separated.
After their third week in Mauville, they decided it was time that they'd better continue on their Journey, only to be challenged by Watson as payment for letting them stay. It was a very easy battle for Rufus, he used Hour and Keith to take down the man's Magenton and Magnemite and then finished off the other's Voltorb with Solomon. Surprised in the skills of Rufus, he awarded him the Dynamo badge and sent them on their way.As the two continued towards Petalburg to challenge Norman, they spotted a group of trouble makers wearing blue bandanas terrorizing a pack of Poochyena. The two stepped, Rufus protecting the Pokemon while Flakner beat up the one in charge. And they continued towards Petalburg, a small Poochyena followed after Rufus, unnoticed. Waking up to what he thought was Falkner's back pack on his chest, he opened his eyes to find the Bite Pokemon gnawing on a stick while curled up. Shocked, he let out a scream and through a ball at it, instantly catching it. Falkner let out a laugh, having woken up from Rufus's clamor. The following day the two arrived in Petalburg where he took on Norman's challenge. He began the battle with Keith and was able to Rock Smash the first two pokemon but found it rahter difficult when facign up against the Slothking. About to send out Angelo, Poochy pooped out of his ball and started to battle with it. Nervously, it used it's only non dark move, which was return. Already in high respects for its trainer, Poochy let out a powerful attack that knocked out the Slothking earning Rufus his seventh badge. Excited Flakner and him embraced casuign a bti of an awkward moment between them.
Next stop was Dewford town, the two, unable to swim the distance of the Seas route, enlisted an old man that happened to have seen them liberate the Poochyena. Once in Dewford, the two relaxed and enjoyed a day at the beach together with their Pokemon.
The following day Rufus challenged Brawly for his final gym badge. He struggled a great deal, both ending up with one Pokemon each. In a lucky finish, Solomon was able to defeat the other's Hitmonchan. Once his badge was awarded the two set off to Sinnoh together to take on the Pokemon League.
. For two weeks the two relaxed and enjoyed themselves on a cruise ship until the reached a small port town in the Northern part of Sinnoh. Making their way to the Pokemon league, they found themselves in front of a large white stone that asked for them to inscribe what they are most grateful for to receive a great gift. The two thought about it, Falkner beign the first to come up with something grabbed a rock and began to write on the rock. Finishing, he stepped back and reviled Rufus's name. Smiling, Rufus sat up and inscribed Falkner's name into the rock. A great light poured over them as the rock spilt allowed them to pass into a great flowery field full of Shaymin. The two wondered around in amazement at the droves of Shaymin that were there. As they ventured further into the field, the tranquility was interrupted as a rift appeared in the sky, caused by Dialga trying to escape from Giritina. The Shaymin began to help the Time Pokemon, doign everythign they could to free it. Enraged at the Shaymin, the two boys began to do their best to rescue them all, becoming trapped in the space between the two worlds. Not wanting Rufus to die, Falkner pulled the other into him and told him that he felt and gave him a farewell kiss as before he pushed Rufus towards the exit towards the exit of the main world, causing him to be taken to the reverse world. Before he could cross over into the normal world, Giritina attacked him with a dark sphere, infusing him with it's power so that it could use his body as a Portal between worlds.
When Rufus awoke, he found himself surrounded by Shaymin who were all bowing at him respectfully. The group leader instructed him as to what must be done. With Lilly, a Shaymin that he had saved, Rufus set out for the main part of Sinnoh toward Mt. Cornet, in search of the path that would bring him and Falkner back together.

Receiving assistance from a mysterious dragon trainer, he went into the distortion world and went through trial after trial to get to Falkner. Upon arrival her freed his friend but was turned into a Giritina. The mysterious dragon tamer defeated the real Giritina which changed Rufus back. Once safely back at the place where they were torn apart, the two departed for the Pokemon League Champion ship. Rufus was able to win the championship and gain entrance to the Elite Four's cathedral. Once inside he battled through all four but unable to defeat the champion. Discouraged, he had Falkner fly him far north to train.
The two arrived in the Kiboun region during a tournament to establish their Reigon's own Elite four. Falkner, wanting to boost his friend's ego, signed Rufus up. He was able to place in the top four of the tournament and then made the second of the Elite Four. He and Falkner have a small apartment in Grandstand City.
